Morpeth is a large market town with stylish shopping, rich in history, heritage and beauty. The name literally means 'murder path', though the incident that gave rise to this grisly appellation is no longer known.

Morpeth welcomes the Tour of Britain!
Join us in Carlisle Park from 10am for family-friendly fun-packed activities laid on by Active Northumberland, a BMX stunt display team in the skate park plus a climbing wall and live music in the marketplace.
A full road closure will be in place for a period at any time between 14:00-15:30, which will affect access by cars to the Train Station. If travelling by train, you will need to arrive at the station before the road closure. Please leave plenty of time when planning your journey as routes around Morpeth are likely to be busy around this period.
There is no roadside parking on the race route, but there are numerous car parks dotted around the town centre.
